gite in the Quercy
Mas de Batie
is a traditional gîte in the Lot department of southwest France,
suitable for up to six guests.
The gite is based on an ancient stone barn that
has been converted with great taste into an elegant country home. It is
situated on a secluded lane, where there are just a few other houses,
none very close, just outside the village of Cremps in the Department
of the Lot. Cremps lies in the southern part of the Parc Naturel
Regional des Causses du Quercy, about twenty minutes by car east of the
beautiful, historic town of Cahors, famous for, among other things, its
red wine made from the Malbec grape.
One enters the property through double iron gates from the lane. There
is sufficient parking for three or four cars and there is a
garage, accessible directly from the house.
Mas de Batie, with heated pool
The ground floor of Mas de Batie comprises a well equipped kitchen with
a round table comfortably large enough for six, a dining room with a
large oak table and a magnificent huge stone fireplace, and a
large sitting room with a Godin enamelled wood burning stove. The
dining and sitting rooms are finely proportioned with high ceilings.
All the ground floor rooms have French windows that open onto the
garden. The ground floor also includes a laundry/store room and a
shower room and toilet just next to the stairs leading bedrooms. A
flight of stairs leads from the sitting room down to a siezable cellar.
The upper floor has three double rooms and a bathroom with a large
walk-in shower. One room has twin beds and the other two double beds.
Two of the bedrooms, including the largest 'master' bedroom have air
conditioning units. All the bedrooms have floor to ceiling double
The garden of Mas de Batie is fairly large with mature trees and shrubs
(Including plum and fig trees), an area of rough lawn, a heated
swimming pool, a 'summer kitchen with barbecue and a boules court.
